On May 31, 2004, Bishop John Jeremiah McRaith, of the Diocese of Owensboro, conferred the Sacrament of Holy Orders on three members of the Fathers of Mercy. During the Ordination Mass, Rev. Brother Thomas Sullivan was ordained to the Holy Priesthood, and Brothers Michel Corriveau and Anthony Stephens were ordained to the Deaconate.
Fr. Tom Sullivan is the son of Mrs. Alice Sullivan and the late James Sullivan of Havertown, Pennsylvania. Before joining the Fathers of Mercy in 1998, he owned his own roofing company and did volunteer work with the Missionaries of Charity. We were blessed to have several members of the Missionaries of Charity present with us for the Ordination. Fr. Tom has been assigned to serve as Assistant Pastor of St. Helen’s Church in Glasgow, Kentucky, a parish that has been under the care of our community for over 50 years.
Br. Michel Corriveau is the son of Florian and Germaine Corriveau of Westport, Massachusetts. He served 14 years in the United States Air Force before receiving an early retirement and joining the Fathers of Mercy in 1999. He will be serving this summer at Sacred Heart Church in Russellville, Kentucky, a parish which is under the care of the Fathers of Mercy. This fall, Deacon Michel will return to the Pontifical College Josephinum for his fourth year of theology in preparation for ordination to the priesthood next year.
Brother Tony Stephens is the son of Mrs. Alberta Stephens and the late James Stephens of Angelus, Kansas. He received his B.A. from Christendom College in Front Royal, Virginia in 1999, and joined the Fathers of Mercy in June of 2000. Br. Tony will be serving this summer at St. Peter’s Church in Merchantville, New Jersey, before returning to the Pontifical College Josephinum where he will continue his studies for the Holy Priesthood in preparation for ordination in 2005.
