The secondary apostolate of the Fathers of Mercy is the staffing of “small, preferably rural parishes.” Our Congregation currently staffs four rural parishes in the Archdiocese of Louisville in the state of Kentucky:
St. Helen’s Church, Glasgow (Barren County), with it’s mission church, Our Lady of the Caves, Horse Cave (Hart County) have been under the pastoral care of our community since 1952. In 2011, the Archbishop of Louisville asked our community to take over the pastoral care of Holy Cross Church in Burkesville (Cumberland County) and Emmanuel Church in Albany (Clinton County). These four churches are located about one hour away from our Generalate, so the priests assigned to these parishes are able to visit the community on their days off, and the community is able to provide extra assistance when it is needed.
The pastor of St. Helen’s and the other three parishes is Father Kenneth Soroko, who was ordained to the priesthood in 2011. He is assisted by Father Ricardo Pineda and Father Louis Caporiccio.
