Learning the Virtues that Lead You to God

St. Francis de Sales once said, “Every one of us needs half an hour of prayer a day, except when we are busy – then we need an hour.” It makes logical sense….the more weight we need to carry, the more strength we need to carry it. The idea of “not having enough time to pray” is more a matter of “prayer not being a priority.” Think about it, when was the last time you heard someone die of starvation because they did not have enough time to eat? That is unheard of, because people make eating a priority…people make time to eat. If people don’t eat, they will physically die. Well, the same principle applies to the spiritual life. If we do not spiritually nourish our souls with prayer, then the end result will be spiritual death. Thus, its not a matter of “not having enough time to pray,”… its more a matter of “prayer not being a priority.” If prayer is a priority, we will make time to pray. St Padre Pio once said, “prayer is oxygen for the soul.” Let us make prayer a priority in our life, faithful children wanting to communicate with our heavenly Father.
